Green Key is an eco-label for tourism and leisure establishments and is awarded to Companies that meet a number of environmental requirements. Receiving the Green Key Certification demonstrates the hotels efforts to develop an environmentally friendly, sustainable and responsible business, as well as the organizations responsibility towards its surroundings and society.
It is with great pleasure that we would like to inform you that the Sofitel Munich Bayerpost has been awarded the prestigious Green Key certification in July 2023. This marks a significant milestone and recognizes the longstanding efforts and commitment of our entire team to sustainability and environmental protection.
Our environmental initiatives at a glance.
Reduction of single-use plastic: We have completely banned single-use plastic products from our guest rooms and replaced them with more environmentally friendly alternatives. This measure contributes significantly to the reduction of plastic consumption and thus makes a valuable contribution to the protection of our oceans and ecosystem.
Healthier Stays: We now offer plant-based options in every area of Food & Beverage Outlets. This change not only underlines our commitment to reducing our environmental footprint, but also responds to the growing demand for healthy and sustainable food options. In fact, 30% of our offerings now allow for a purely vegan delight.
Efficient use of resources: By investing in modern technologies, we have been able to reduce energy consumption. Energy-saving lighting systems, motion sensors and water-saving fittings help to conserve valuable resources. Our effective recycling programme minimises waste and enables the reuse of valuable materials.
Sustainable procurement practices: Our environmental friendliness is also reflected in our procurement processes. We place great emphasis on sourcing environmentally friendly products that have been sustainably manufactured and processed. By making this choice, we support companies that are also committed to responsible and sustainable practices. At the same time, we support local communities and businesses by increasing our use of regional products.
5 Employee engagement and training: We recognise the critical role of an engaged team in the successful implementation of our sustainable initiatives. That’s why we invest heavily in training and awareness-raising for our employees. Together, we integrate environmentally conscious practices into our daily workflow, doing our part to protect the planet.
Food Waste: Excess food is not wasted but made available to the Bahnhofsmission. In this way, we support local communities and assist those in need. Additionally, we actively participate in the “Winnows Food Waste Program.” This innovative program helps us reduce food waste by allowing us to track the consumption and disposal of food efficiently. Through the application of technologies and data analysis, we can optimize our processes and minimize food waste. These measures are an integral part of our commitment to sustainability and responsible resource management.
